WILD THINGS

This year’s ceramic winter exhibition at Spier  is titled Wild Things – a title inspired in part by Maurice Sendak’s book, Where the Wild Things Are, inviting visitors to enter a world of untamed creatures that feel mischievous, otherworldly and powerful.

Ceramics is very much about the “embodied object” where the artworks act as extensions of the maker, who expresses their thoughts and emotions into their creations. 

While deeply introspective, Wild Things is also shaped by play. Many of the works evoke movement, transformation and imagination, appearing as if they might shift or breathe when no one is watching.
