The painting is the accumulation of a series of moments captured in the surrounding landscape of Oudtshoorn.

Initially trying to capture the vastness of the landscape, I began to notice the details. Literally lying down and crouching between the low bushes and flowers, I began to compose my images.

These images formed the basis for my paintings. They are snapshots that evoke the memory of what it felt like to be in the Karoo. No longer a literal representation, but more of a feeling.
